San Alfonso María de Ligorio, C.Ss.R., (1696 - 1787) was a Neapolitan religious, bishop of the Catholic Church and founder of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer whose members are known as Redemptorists. He is considered a renovator of the moral of his time. Canonized in 1839 and proclaimed "Doctor of the Church" in 1871. He wrote more than 111 works, including the Treaty of Moral Theology, written between 1753 and 1755 and The Glories of Mary, one of the most renowned books on topics Marianos, written between 1734 and 1750.
