An algorithm acts on your password and seed phrase to create a cipher output. This output is then embedded into a QR Code while the seed phrase is immediately discarded. It happens within the app, within Apple's sandboxing. Nothing touches the net.
There is an option to use a temporary device name in conjunction with your password for greatly increased security. If used, restoring a seed phrase with Seedcipher then requires not only the correct password, but also a correctly named device. Without a correctly named device it will not restore, even if the correct password is used.
