Fathul Qarib is one of the most popular fiqh books among Islamic boarding school students all over Indonesia. It is not yet known exactly when this book was studied in Indonesia, what is clear is that santri who study jurisprudence are no longer confused when they recite this book.

Syarakh Taqrib is used by many Islamic boarding schools because the contents of the chapters are concise and densely discussed. In addition, the diction and sentence structure of this book are easy to understand for those who are just learning to read the yellow book.

The author of the Book of Fathul Qorib is Shaykh Muhammad bin Qosim al-Ghazi (918 H / 1512 AD). He is the author of the syarakh (explanation) of the Taqrib matan book written by Imam Syekh Ahmad bin Husein or known as Abu Syuja '. This book was compiled based on the tradition of the Syafi'iyyah school of thought.

Shaykh Abu Syuja 'wrote Matan Taqrib because it was at the request of his students and friends. The purpose of compiling this book is so that people who learn jurisprudence can know the religious law in a short and easy way. Many scholars after the era of Imam Abu Syuja 'compiled syarakh books on his Taqrib, including one of them, namely Sheikh Muhammad al-Ghazi.
