The Geographical and Statistical Information Service of the El Puerto de Santa María City Council has been working on the maintenance and updating of its official street map and on the publication of municipal guides when budget availability allowed. These guides were always published on paper and in different formats, collecting in them the information that was most widely demanded by citizens and groups.
The new guide represents a qualitative leap of the first magnitude since, although the information has been continuously updated, until now it has not been possible to make it available to citizens by electronic means. This work is due to the initiative developed by the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalusia, which has put in place the necessary means so that City Councils can disseminate by electronic means and within the reach of all citizens, information that we consider to be of maximum use and that Until now, it was only accessible in the Administration offices.
In this guide you will be able to access in an extremely easy way, to locate any existing street or square in the official street map of the municipality, public services such as Administration offices, educational, sports, cultural, health centers, emergencies, accommodation and much more information. which will undoubtedly be of general interest to citizens.
Technological development has made it possible not only to have the information included in the Guide itself, but also to make available to citizens the tool: "TAKE ME THERE", which allows, once the place for which we have requested the information, link to the "google maps" browser and the application itself will lead us to the desired place.
Likewise, the "CLOSE TO ME" service has been developed, with which users can find out about the places of interest that exist in the vicinity of the person who uses the application.
Also included in the Guide are the most important monuments in the municipality and a brief description of them, provided by the Historical Heritage service of our City Council, as well as a photograph of them, their postal address, their telephone number and, when If possible, the link to their website and their email address.
It also shows the list of existing car parks in the city, as well as the parking spaces reserved for people with disabilities, which are located on public roads, so that they can be easily located by users who use the application and the link with the browser.
Obviously it is not a complete and definitive guide, but the purpose of the people who have worked on this project is to include new content and correct it continuously.
It is therefore possible that, given the volume of information it contains, errors or absences of elements or services that may be of interest to citizens are detected in the Guide and for this reason, we have provided an "INCIDENTS" option in it, with so that users can communicate any errors or suggestions to improve this new public service.
