Lee Soon-Kyu or better known as Sunny is a singer and vocalist of Girls' Generation (SNSD). Talented also in DJ Radio, and television presenter. Sunny was born in Los Angeles, California on May 15, 1989. She later moved to Kuwait as a refugee. Finally, their family moved to South Korea during Gulf War I. She has two older sisters, Lee Eun Kyu and Lee Jin Kyu.

He is the nephew of SM Entertainment founder Lee Soo Man. In 1998, Sunny auditioned at SM Entertainment and was a trainee for 5 years. After 5 years, Sunny transferred to Starworld Entertainment where he entered into a duet called "Sugar" which never debuted. One of his older siblings was the manager of the duo, but when the duo disbanded, his brother was active in other parts of the music industry.

In 2007, Sunny was recommended by Iconiq to enter SM Entertainment. After 9 months Sunny returned to being a trainee at SM Entertainment, Sunny became a member of Girls' Generation. Sunny has a phobia of fireworks and noise. The reason is that the fireworks and the noise reminded him of the time of the Gulf War I.
