Sheikh Mishary Rashed Al-Afasy was born in Kuwait in 1976. Sheikh Mishary studied at the Islamic University of Madinah in Saudi Arabia, specializing in the ten readings of the Quran. He is married, and has three children (two daughters and one son).

In 1998, Sheikh Mishary was awarded the first "Arab Creativity Oscar" by the Arab Creativity Union in Egypt
