Sahih Bukhari is a book of hadith, compiled by Imam Bukhari who lived between 194 and 256 Hijriah.

Imam Bukhari's name is actually Muhammad bin Ismail bin Ibrahim, nicknamed Abu Abdillah. He was born in Bukhara in 194 AH. All the Ulama, both his teachers and his friends, praised and acknowledged the height of his knowledge. He was an Imam whose memorized hadiths were beyond reproach and his accuracy.

This book of Hadith among Sunni Muslims is one of the best, because Bukhari used very strict criteria in selecting hadith. He spent 16 years compiling this book and produced 2,602 hadith in his book, (9,802 with repetition).

The hadiths narrated by Bukhari are among the authentic hadiths which are widely used as references by scholars and Muslims throughout the world.
