Achin bird inside the cage
How come
If you can catch it, it's mind-blowing
I would give him his feet.

The song of carnality went into the current word. The main meaning of this song is that human life is temporary. Those who live today may die tomorrow. But if life, that is, time, could be bound in some way, then death would not come. Here the porcupine in the cage is used as a symbol of our physical form of the caged bird.
No one really knows from which direction it comes and from which direction it goes. If somehow this bird of life could be trapped within the body - then we would all become immortal. I could conquer death.

This song was written by Lalon Fakir, a very popular Baul saint in thousands of villages in Bangladesh - his full name is Fakir Lalon Shah. The song even charmed Rabindranath himself so much that he even translated the song into English. In 1925, while delivering an English lecture at the Indian Philosophical Mahasabha, he quoted the song as saying, "The sound of the bird's wings in this song by an unknown lyricist and composer from an unknown village can evoke a sense of wonder and mystery even in the minds of ordinary farmers."

Lalon Fakir, an unknown artist from an unknown village was not known in the civilized world at that time. But his songs were very popular in the rural environment. His songs touched the hearts of common people very easily. He used to go to the house of his disciples with the music around his neck, and the disciples also came to him in groups to the music, the music. There is much disagreement about the year of birth of this infamous artist. Some say in 1774 - some say 1777. This country was under British rule. The people of the village lived a miserable life in poverty, illiteracy and ill health. Where is the person who will give them a little hope or tell them about the need to learn? The dervishes of Baul Fakir used to visit those oppressed, pathetic, weak and helpless people, and cheered them up by singing their songs. They talked about people. They spoke against wooden idols, earthen mound worship or miracles of Jinns or fairies. He used to compose songs in protest against prejudice. But we don't get to know about such worldly saints as they have always been ignored in the educated society, newspapers or education curriculum. The true face or heart of the country has not been revealed in the way the British have taught us history in subjugated India. How many saints, fakirs and dervishes have been lost to time - many do not even know their names. However, their contribution to encouraging the people of the country under British rule is not less. One of them was Lalon Shah Fakir. His songs reached people's hearts. He tried to inspire the more infamous farmers of the infamous villages.

There are so many different information about Lalan's birth and life that it is really difficult to find out the real information from it. Many people say that Lalan was alive for 116 years. About caste some say Lalan was Kayastha. Some say he was a Muslim. However, the news of his death was published in a local fortnightly newspaper 'Hitkari' of Kushtia. The Register (1890, author unknown) printed with the news of Lalon's death said very lightly:

In general, Prakash Lalan was a Kayastha of Fakir caste. The clans under Kushtia are the Bhoumik-Banshyasyas of their caste. They have no living relatives. He was abandoned by his companions after contracting spring fever on the way. He became a fakir after gaining life in a state of stupor with the kindness and shelter of a Muslim. Her face had spots of chicken pox.

The person who wrote this article probably referred to the vernal disease scar as Lalon saw face-to-face. He has heard from people about the incident of springing up and being abandoned while on a pilgrimage, and also being saved by the mercy of a Muslim.

Later Vasantakumar Pal, a resident of Kushtiajar's Dharmapara, inquired more about Lalan's life and works alone. Basant Kumar has nurtured all his life. From his information, it is known that Lalan was born in Bhandara, a village near Dharmapara. As a child, Vasantakumar was curious to hear Lalan's life story from the mouth of village people and started to get detailed information about it.
